Born
23 March 1939 in Leningrad. Died: 9 December 2010 in St. Petersburg.
Education
At Leningrad Musical College from 1954-1955 (composition under Ustvolskaya; piano under Mikhelis). At Leningrad Conservatory from 1957-1963 (composition under Salmanov, Voloshinov and Evlakhov; piano under Logovinski). Postgraduate study under Shostakovich from 1962-1965.

Style
Tishchenko uses Shostakovichian models and shows the fundamental aesthetic position inherited from Shostakovich. In the 1960s he turned his experimental instinct towards some of the new modernist ideas and techniques coming from the West such as dodecaphony.
